Go and sign up at the Galaxy Zoo and help to classify some of the many galaxies that have been photographed but not yet sorted into the appropriate categories. There is a short tutorial to tell you what to look for, and then you are let loose on on the universe to boldly categorize to your heart's content. If you find anything really strange, then be sure to let everybody else know about it!
