Doris the kitten notched up her second kill yesterday.
She caught herself a medium sized sparrow and reduced it to something that looked like the left overs from a KFC bargain bucket in a matter of minutes, leaving a trail of downy feathers through the utility room and into the kitchen. Lovely. I get the feeling that she is going to be the terror of the local wildlife for the forseeable future. She's happily chasing a small tin foil ball around the house now.
Last night at Kobudo was, to put it mildly, ACEBEST. The sensei pushed us hard on the warmup, jogging round the mat, changing direction and running backwards, then jumping up to a fighting stance from a prone position, followed by push ups until we got it right. We are concentrating on jo stick for our first weapons grading and we have covered most of the level one syllabus now - blocks, strikes, strangle holds and a scoop throw. Great fun, even though it was somewhat nerve wracking to get up and demonstrate our moves in front of the class at the end of the lesson.
I'm currently watching a rather excellent (in the so-bad-it's-good league) film that my Topfield box recorded off of ITV 4 in the middle of the night. It's a straight to video Dungeons and Dragons film called Wrath of the Dragon God, and it's just like watching a typical D&D campaign with the player characters being summoned by a villager to investigate the great evil lurking over their village, before setting out on an epic quest for the mighty orb of blah blah blah ... you get the idea. We've got noble barbarians, pious clerics, snarky thieves, a mages' council, an evil dark lord and a sleeping dragon - all of the usual suspects, and much closer to the spirit of the game than the first film that made it into the cinemas.
