Well, I think I expected you to sound northern because you live there. Which in thinking about it, and you know, actually typing it down, sounds ridiculous, but there you go. You do sound quite posh :)
And I like it. The accent. It's nice (this must come as a great relief to you, as you probably were up nights wondering :P ).
Will, you are right, does not really have a Sheffield accent, but, that said, I had the hardest time at first to understand him. It took me a bit, and there are some accents that I don't really get at first and it takes me a few listens, so I was very pleasantly surprised to hear and understand you from the start. Yay for enunciating!

Thanks for posting about one of my favorite topics! I like your accent - or lack of accent - very much. Of course I can't comment on its degree of poshness because I honestly don't know what that means. I also enunciate a little more than average - like the "t" in "dentist" or "twenty", most people around me don't pronounce it, but I usually do. I think ESL teaching has ingrained some habits of carefulness.

I'm glad to be disillusioned about Daphne. :-) Lots of people bought the Southern accents in Fried Green Tomatoes, but they made me cringe.
