Top Five One Hit Wonders

Courtesy of Nancy

This is a tricky one. Up until a couple of years ago, my number one choice would have been John Otway but now he is, of course, a two hit titan.

5. Doop - Doop - we really need more of the Charleston in the pop charts.

4. Las Ketchup - Asereje Enormously engaging and catchy, the album is well worth seeking out too.

3. M/A/R/R/S - Pump up the volume - A classic house track that ran into all sorts of legal trouble for its liberal use of samples.

2. Jilted John - Jilted John. Now better known as John Shuttleworth, this punk classic was the brain child of Sheffield's very own Graham Fellows.

1. O Superman - Laurie Anderson. Possibly the most unlikely one hit wonder of all. An eight minute, minimalist tone poem from a New York concept artist that went to number one and stayed there for several weeks.

*smiles* How different from what an American list would be!
