Getting the hang of Thursdays

Work. Bleh. Less said about it the better.

Still, it's Thursday, so it's kobudo night, hurrah! I wasn't sure if I could remember my sai kata after a break of three weeks, but it clicked back into place pretty quickly so I could spend the time working on making my cross blocks and strikes more effective. I then spent some time working with Kevin on his white belt jitsu syllabus, which mostly involved me being thrown on floor and having my arm twisted into a series of increasingly painful locks. What larks!

By the time we finished it was dark outside, so I guess that means the nights are drawing in again. In what has become a mini-tradition I stopped at the garage/mini supermarket on the way home to buy a bottle of cider which I am now drinking with ice, being the gullible victim of advertising wot I am. Still, it's very refreshing, and I've definitely earned it.

In other news, Alicia picked up her results for her first year of her A level course, scoring two Bs and a C, putting her in good stead for the grades that she will need for university in a year's time. Hopefully she will knuckle down over the next year and keep on track, or even improve. We shall see, but I'm quite confident in her.

In games news, Family Ski is really proving to be a superbly polished game. I've got S+ ranks on a couple of the runs now, and my air tricks are becoming easier to pull off reliably. I've found 9 out of 10 of the orienteering points, completed some of the challenges and earned enough points to buy myself some natty carving skis, some stylish ski wear and a pair of gloves with a skull and cross bones on. Hurrah!

Congratulations to Alicia.
