Failing to step back from a punch - a cricked jaw
Mistiming a cross block - a bruised arm
Ninety minutes of hard physical exercise - aching muscles and a raging thirst
An evening of ju-jitsu with individual tuition from a sixth dan black belt - priceless!
Actually, it was five quid, but that's a conspicuous bargain in my book. I was partnered with Kevin who is a newcomer to ju-jitsu but has been doing karate of various forms for thirty five years and was very helpful in correcting my kicking techniques. Good stuff.
I really needed it after the crappy day I've had as well. What should have been a simple tweak to a database report ended up going horribly wrong, with each test run taking ages to process before crashing and losing changes that I put in. As a result my day off tomorrow is going to be taken up with hacking the data so that they can generate their invoices which should have been done at the start of the week. Grrr, grrr, and thrice grrrr.
On the plus side, Jamie had an excellent progress report from school and was treated to a KFC lunch as a reward, and I've just finished listening to 'Arthur and George' by Julian Barnes which was excellent and deserves a proper review when I have time to do it justice.
