Of beer, back gardens and the box

I took advantage of a bit of dry weather to unleash the lawn mower from its winter hibernation yesterday and give the grass at the front and back of the house its first trim of the year. I also strimmed the edges and then hoovered up the last of the autumn leaves that had migrated to the far flung corners of the garden. The next job is a tidy up of the beds, but that can wait until another weekend, I think. It's always gratifying to see things starting to grow, and the vines over the pergola are starting to bud.

In other news, I appear to be a fully qualified Torchwood agent as a result of completing the alternate reality game on the Torchwood website. It turned out to be much more involving and enjoyable than the actual tv series itself, which I ended up watching through to the end hoping that the occasional flashes of humour and drama would be developed into something more than the fan fiction style episodes that we got. Ho hum. At least the current series of Doctor Who has given us two solid episodes, after a somewhat shaky season opener. The Ood episode was fairly strong stuff, with allusions to slave revolts and some intriguing sf concepts regarding evolution. Good stuff.

The other treat last night was a keg of beer in the fridge that I cracked open after chilling it for the requisite ten hours and proved to be very drinkable. Very very drinkable. Hic.

Do you get Battlestar Gallactica there, or can you rent the dvds? It's just so awesome beyond words. Especially once you get past the first few eps, at least for me.
