Pam wanted to know what pranks I got up to at school.
I'm sorry to disappoint, but I was pretty much the archetypal swot at school and spent most of my time staying out of the way of the bullies and the trouble makers. Thank goodness for Dungeons and Dragons is all I can say! I did loosen up a little in the sixth form though, and lunch times were taken up with playing cards and organising elaborate games of Killer where we would plot assassination attempts using water pistols and fake bombs and the like.
Maria asked why I never blog about my relationship.
Oooh, good one and a definite challenge to my blogging 'comfort zone'. I think that I have subconsciously defined some areas of my life as being private, so if I've talked to Jan about something I won't repeat it publicly. My relationship is a bit like the water in a goldfish bowl - it supports me and is so vital to me, that I don't tend to notice it until I step outside of it.
Nancy asked where I met Jan.
In a chatroom is the brief answer. I think it must have been the first time that I had ventured into the MSN chatrooms almost exactly eight years ago. I went into a Buffy chatroom first and my screen name got stuck as 'Giles', and then I ended up in 'Fun Chat'. I was so much of a noob that I thought that A/S/L was an abbreviated insult. I got chatting to Jan and found that we had a lot of things in common, from the same car to the same taste in coffee. We continued chatting privately over the next couple of weeks, and I eventually plucked up my courage and drove over to Worksop where she lived at the time and things progressed from there, and we ended up buying a house together and getting married within the year.
That was a definite turning point in my life as I had been in a very destructive marriage for a long time that had finished about two years previously.

I love it that Buffy brought you together! That's a great story. I've never ventured into a chatroom in my life, so what does A/S/L mean?
It means 'Age/Sex/Location' but I was under the impressions that it was an abbreviation for 'a**hole' ... :-)
