Quake!
When you've been having weird apocalyptic dreams for the last week, being jolted awake by a noise that sounded like something trying to rip the roof off of the house is not exactly conducive to a restful night's sleep. Still, the kids slept through it and none of the animals seemed particularly bothered - I thought they were supposed to give advance warning of such things by making 'Baroo!' noises?

Nah. Earthquakes are sudden. Dogs will bark DURING, though. Like you need the extras. But all's well then? Fantastic!
I doubt your dreams had much to do with the earthquake, though. I'd have strange dreams all the time here, then.
