Urge to kill ... rising ...

You know, when you've got a complex database migration to prepare for, the last thing you need is constant interruptions with extra pettifogging tasks of the "Oooh, can you just run off these letters so we can get them in the post for tonight?", with the concomitant lack of understanding that producing three letters from a mail merge set up actually takes as long as producing 600 by the time you've factored in loading the data and amending the query to pick up the new ones and then making it worse by asking for three separate 'extra, one off runs' rather than saving time by doing them all at the same time. On top of that, I had a different request to produce some debt chasing letters which would have been easy if the person sending me the data to work from hadn't transposed two columns in the source spreadsheet for no bloody reason whatsover, except to cause me to waste half an hour wondering why I was getting a subscript out of range error on the import, which when you look in the help file to see what it could be gives no clues at all. Grrr.

As well as work, we have had two cases of techno-suicide in the house with the kids pvr falling over with a flashing red dot of doom and then the freeview box in the kitchen expiring for no readily apparent reason. Fortunately, the pvr is still under warranty so we should get a new one this week and the freeview box shouldn't be too expensive to replace. Still, grrr again.

In other news, Daisy the kitten seems to have mastered the use of the cat flap, although her forays in the great outdoors have been limited to going out, wandering around for a bit and shivering and then coming back in to curl up by the radiator in the bathroom. I know how she feels - a week of temperatures hovering around zero seems to have sapped all of the warmth from my bones, and we haven't even had the benefit of clear blue, frosty skies as compensation, being lumbered with eternal grey gloom instead.

Can I has be hibernating now, pls? K, thnx, bye!
