I finished Bioshock this morning, and it has certainly been a superb experience. Visceral, frightening, disturbing and ultimately moving, it is an experience that everyone with an interest in videogames as an artform should investigate. The way that the story unfolds through the discovery of audio diaries and radio messages is perfectly paced, and the moment that I looked at a child's drawing on an orphanage wall and pieced the last pieces of the puzzle into place is one that will haunt me for a long time.
Perhaps the best way to demonstrate the nature of the game is through the following clip from early in the game where you first encounter the iconic Big Daddies and Little Sisters - it's worth watching in hi-res to see the detail in the graphics.
