More Reverse Blogging

Long time, no blog. I don't know why, exactly - I've been busy, and also feeling a bit under the weather with a persistent cough/cold/bug sort of thing that's left me feeling rather run down, but them's the breaks, as they say. So, what have I been doing in between coughing up gobbets of luminous phlegm?

Yesterday was Jan's birthday, and a fun time was had, all round. Pressies in the morning, all you can eat Tapas for lunch and then a quick trip to Asda inspired us to buy a very cute cast iron barbecue. I managed to break the first one by over tightening a screw but I still maintain that cast iron shouldn't crack like that. Fortunately, Asda swapped it for a non broken one which we soon pieced together successfully whilst drinking margaritas made with fresh lime juice. It's an efficient little stove with a chiminea style design to suck air up from a vent beneath the hearth and once it was sufficiently hot it cooked our burgers to perfection. Yum.

Tuesday was my appraisal interview, which I think went quite well. It's a bit of an odd situation, and rather meaningless, to rate yourself out of ten on different areas, but at least it provoked discussion of how we can work more effectively as a team now that our department has increased in size. I also had to list my skills which might give me a bit extra in the next salary review, with a bit of luck.

Monday evening, I managed to spend a bit more time on Marvel Ultimate Alliance and I think I'm getting near the final act now, exploring the surface of a ruined planet in the shadow of Galactus. I think that I'll try to polish this one off and then go back to Zelda which has been on hiatus for far too long. Mind you, I don't tend to play console games so much in the summer months because of the light coming in through the windows making the screen difficult to see.

The weekend was a bit of a washout, both literally and metaphorically, with heavy rain and the lurgy conspiring to stop me from going out, but at least it allowed for some catch up on DVDs with the excellent Hot Fuzz and then watching a superb episode of Doctor Who recorded on the Topfield.

That's about it, I think. I really should twitter more as well. I do enjoy getting a running commentary on peoples lives in 140 character snippets. Nearly time to walk the dog now, and it looks like the rain clouds have cleared.
