Back to reality

Up at 6:30, walk the dog, have some breakfast, get a shower, get onto the motorway and sit in a traffic jam on the m1, get into the office and open the inbox to find several hundred emails, most of which are of no relevance to me. Start sifting through to pick out the ones that need attention, including one from a member of staff who is changing gender and will need all of their login names changing as well. Nice to see the company is being supportive though. Most distressing email was the circular announcing plans for the office christmas party. Groan.

I've got my to do list sorted, so time to start plowing through it - mostly bitty things that won't take to long to resolve I think, but the expenses recharges looks to be problematical because it looks like we don't have some of the contract details that the import routine is expecting to find set up in the sales order database yet. Actually, scratch that - it looks as if none of the references that have been sent to us have been set up. Without a contract reference to tie the transaction to an account code the whole system grinds to a halt. Groan redux.

In other news, I appear to have won a donkey in a competition on Beth's blogathon. Fortunately, this turns out to be a certificate and a warm glow for a year rather than a flesh and blood beast to go in the back garden.

Finally, I've got home too late and too knackered to go to fencing tonight ... :-( Also, I don't suppose anyone out there in blogland taped 'Porco Rosso' off Film Four this afternoon? I've been wanting to see it for ages but we forget to set it to record.
