Manic Monday

Well, not really.

I’ve just about recovered from the weekend – fencing in a very hot hall followed by staying up until one o’clock making cocktails at Jan’s party and then drinking most of them. Strawberry Margaritas, Banananana Daquiris and a stupidly strong Mai Tai to finish with where the ice didn’t so much melt as evaporate. Yum.

Sunday was a quiet day, with a return to Animal Crossing after a break of five days. I played for a couple of hours hoovering up fruit to sell and buying black katanas and model cars to earn enough points on my Nook Loyalty card to earn platinum status. The afternoon saw the “Bug Off” bug catching contest and I was faced with a dilemma. After failing to beat Curt’s record Peacock butterfly for nearly an hour, I caught a rare (and huge) Birdwing butterfly that I didn’t have in my museum collection. I plumped for giving it to Tortimer, and it was worth the gamble as it proved to be 233mm in size and winning the competition by a huge margin. BUG TROPHY GET!

Today has been stupidly busy at work, with various people in a panic about the data import from the merged companies that we are going to be doing the accounts for. My pointy haired boss sent me an email at 4:45 with a load of records that been missed off the initial data load. I had to go through the list checking that the new codes were unique. This would have been a trivial job if I had been doing the whole load from scratch, but instead turned into a mind numbing exercise in recursive iteration until I had eliminated all duplicates, and then I had to load up the files into the chart of accounts and then email the merged list to everybody “urgently”. I didn’t finish until after seven, so I reckon that I’ve earned the glass of beer that I am about to drink …. now!

Cheers!
