Walking out into the woods this morning was like stepping into Narnia, only with fewer lions and witches, and I only had to go through my back door instead of all of that mucking around in wardrobes to get there. The falling snow pattered gently on my coat and the dog ran in excited circles trying to make sense of the strange new world around him. The usual route to Alicia's school got a namecheck on the traffic report as being gridlocked, so I didn't even attempt the drive for her, and I then dropped Jamie off a few minutes early so that he could throw snowballs with his friends.
Back home, and two loads of washing to do and the bathrooms to clean before settling down to some work for the day. A few irksome support calls, a bit of tidying up on the database and a report on the file structures on our main accounts server in preparation for a reorganisation that should give the sql database some more elbow room for the planned expansion. Sushi for lunch, and then more of the same before going to pick Jamie up.
The snow had mostly melted, but as we were getting out of the car I couldn't resist scooping up a good size handful and challenging the young whippersnapper to an impromptu duel. By criminy, it was good fun and a couple of minutes was more than enough to set the old pulse racing before we called a truce and retreated into the warm for a cup of tea and a chocolate digestive.
