CNPS Update

Hello. My name is Neil. I am a CNPS player.

It's been a while since I've done one of these updates. I had said that I would stop playing this foolish and pointless game when I got to 100, but it seems that I can't avoid it. I got to 170 before Christmas and was stuck for so long that I almost forgot all about it. Last week on my trip to Bath and back I saw, in one of those curious statistical quirks, seven separate 171s, two 172s and now today I've seen a 173 and a 174.

It seems that I can't avoid it.

My brain must be subconciously processing car number plates until I see the particular combination that I am looking for, and then flicking a particular synapse to register the spot. At the current rate, I won't finish the game for another fifteen years, although that takes no account of the gradual disappearance of traditional number plates in favour of their new fangled modern replacements.

This morning I listened to the first episode of the reading of "Duel" that was on BBC 7 on Saturday, and found myself nervously eyeing up petrol tankers when I overtook them on the M42. It struck me just what a literal and faithful adaptation of the text the Steven Spielberg movie was. Worth listening to this week while it is on listen again.
