This was a revelation for me - an extraordinarily frank and smart hip hop album talking about life, sex and relationships from a woman’s perspective. Each song has a short spoken word section that introduces the themes and they are the polar opposite of the painful skits that are usually found on albums like this.
The music is mainly down tempo with gorgeous vocal harmonies showcasing the lyrics. My only quibble is that this technically an EP rather than an album, but I’ve just seen that there’s a deluxe version that is immediately going on my playlist.
