Coriolis - Hyaenas of Odacon

This game has been on my TTRPG bucket list for a while and I finally got the chance to give it a go today. The setting has been described as 'Arabian Nights in Space' and it's certainly very atmospheric. It's based on a diaspora of humans in an expanse of space known as the third horizon, with various factions fighting each other, ancient ruins to explore and all watched over by a pantheon of mysterious deities known as The Icons. Characters will have a chosen Icon that they can pray to for aid in dire circumstance, but that aid will come at a price. The rules are one of the early incarnations of the Free League dice pool system and work well for a free wheeling game of combat and exploration.

We were playing a salvage crew, hired to retrieve an idol from a derelict ship which would earn us enough to buy a new nav computer to get out of the desolate Odacon system. Act one saw us exploring the ship, fighting an ancient robot, and starting to realise that the artefact might not be all that it seemed. Act two was an enjoyable space battle, with everyone taking a different role on the ship and contributing to the outcome. The third act was where things took a turn for the horrific but we somehow survived by the grace of the Icons.

All in all, good fun and certainly a setting I'd like to visit again!
