While the gangsta rappers of the east and west coasts were riding around in gold plated limousines, snorting drugs and occasionally shooting each other, Arrested Development from Atlanta were struggling for over three years just to get a record deal (hence the name of the album). The result is a world away from the gangsta scene, full of deft lyricism, heartfelt spirituality and songs with a social conscience. I actually liked this a lot, certainly enough to listen twice and I think I’ll be going back to it again.
