A two hour plus tutorial for M366 yesterday, but we are now well into a part of the course that I am really enjoying. We are using Netlogo to look at models of emergent properties in cellular automata systems (such as Life) and things like flocking behaviour in birds.Great fun and an excuse to debate as to whether ants are purely deterministic or if they do have some sort of random choice between different pheromone trails.
In telly news, we have been watching Misfits on 4OD - it's a superhero show with the twist that the characters are young offenders on a community service scheme and thus a long way from the typical clean cut paragons of comic book fame. Sharply written, with some unexpected twists and a particularly good soundtrack as well.
