Back to work today after four days off. Groan.
I’ve not said much about my sleep patterns recently, and in case you were wondering it’s a case of no news being (cautiously) good news. My sleep diary reports four green nights (i.e. seven hours sleep) in a row and my energy levels are rebuilding bit by bit. Slowly does it I reckon.
As for the drugs, I’m sure I’m not the only person cross about the sacking of the government’s chief scientific advisor for pointing out that the evidence is that drugs such as cannabis and ecstasy are comparatively safer than cigarettes and alcohol. For a minister to make policy pronouncements (which basically can be summed up as ‘Drugs are bad, m’kay?’) that fly in the face of scientific evidence as well as the personal experience of millions of people is a dangerous route to go down. If they were genuinely concerned about public health outcomes then restricting alcohol and liberalising cannabis would have a positive benefit.
Rock’n’roll – I’m surprised that I’ve only just realised that the Shaun of the Dead movie soundtrack is absolutely *perfect* for playing Minigore too, particularly the movie quotes (“After all, it’s not the end of the world, is it?). Aces.
