A week is a (very) long time ...

I think that somebody, somewhere managed to sneak an extra couple of days into the last week somehow.

Last Friday was unsettled by a couple of phone calls that cast a downer over our usual end of week relief, and indeed over the rest of the weekend that even a day in Leeds couldn't lift. Sunday was my kobudo grading which had seemed a daunting prospect and ended up being fairly straight forward. Monday was an interview for a new job, Tuesday was a night disturbed by a poorly child and then the unexpected news that I had got the job. Wednesday was the last visit to the Birmingham office and then yesterday was Alicia's 18th birthday.

Crikey, where does the time go?

Despite having a rotten cold, Alicia had a fine day. Presents in the morning (mostly Bob Dylan related), some money and a surprise helium balloon in a box from her granny, a new haircut followed by a trip to the pub to buy her first drink at the bar and then a night of pizza, chocolate puddings with cream and a dvd on the telly. It all seems a bit surreal that my little girl is now an adult.

First orders at the bar!

Cheers!

Happy Birthday, Alicia. That looks like the right way to celebrate it.
