Well, today didn't get off to the best of starts, to be honest.
In fact, it started at around half past three when Jamie was awake with a raging temperature, and I wasn't feeling much better. I ended up cancelling my planned trip to Birmingham and going back to bed until half past nine. Fortunately, the main problem that I had on my list seemed to have resolved itself overnight without requiring a server reboot in the interim, so I didn't really need to be there in any case.
I hadn't been expecting to hear anything for a while after my interview yesterday, so I was pleasantly surprised to get a call this afternoon offering me the job in the Leeds office, and after checking with my current boss, agreeing a start date of next Monday. It's on a month's probation to start with, but I think it will be suitable for me, and it sounds like a good time to join the team. The daily commute to Leeds should be manageable, and nowhere near as draining as the slog into Birmingham.
So, hurrah and huzzah, and crack open the bottle of fizz that has been on ice for the last couple of weeks of uncertainty! Cheers!
