I had a bit of GTA IV moment this morning.
I was stuck in traffic behind a large SUV and I noticed that it was called a ‘Patriot’ at the same moment that a track from Radio Broker shuffled its way on to my mp3 playlist. For one glorious second I was driving a Dilettante hybrid over the bridge to Algonquin to pick up LawChick for a lunch date, scanning the surroundings for police cruisers before unloading a SMG clip into the road hog in front, but reality intervened before I did anything life threatening. I was, however, pleased to note that my cumulative average fuel consumption has gone over 60 mpg for the first time – phear my mad nempimaniac skillz!
The chip in my windscreen has been repaired after an unfeasibly long series of events with men in vans coming and looking at the damage, doing that teeth sucking thing before going away, then deciding that the whole windscreen needed replacing and then coming back without the correct trim and driving off with my car keys and having to come back again, saying that an on site repair couldn’t be done if it was raining, and eventually getting it done. Anyhoo, you get the picture.
I was working in the Coleshill office and after my meeting had finished I managed to sneak out at four o'clock to get home in time to grab a quick bowl of cereal and then straight out to kobudo. After going round the block twice I spotted the entrance to the new dojo, and quite swish it is too with a large matted area, boxing ring and weights equipment as well. I went through my sai syllabus with Sensai Steve, correcting a couple of mistakes that I had been making in the kata and then working on defences against a bokken with new guy Kevin who was trying sword for the first time and doing pretty well all told. Good fun, although it was very warm inside and I had a bit of a sweat on by the end of the session.
Home now for some food, a pint of Cains Raisin beer and a gawp at the wretched hive of scum and villainy on Big Brother.
