I woke up this morning with a throat that felt as if had been given a going over with sandpaper, followed by a quick gargle with a glass full of razor blades. Oh joy. A couple of co-codamols took the edge off sufficiently so I could eat some breakfast before I hit the road.
We'll not talk about the road.
Sitting in a traffic jam as the drugs wear off is not what I call fun. I went out at lunch time to the supermarket and picked up a pack of super ultra max strength dooberries which proved to be the business, and gave me enough oomph to get through the afternoon and tick off most of the things that I needed to get done, before setting off for the journey home.
We'll not talk about that either.
I got home for seven, and crawled into bed for a nap, followed by a nice freshly ground cappucino and MOAR DRUGZ, until I felt almost human again.
At least the journey time gave me a chance to listen to lots of podcasty type things. The Free Thought Radio show this week examined the recent cases of parents who had let their children die by relying on prayer rather than seeking medical help - these people deserve to go to prison for a very long time. In Our Time this week was concerned with Newton's laws of motion, both explaining them and putting them in historical context. Finally, Radio 3's The Essay was a fascinating examination of the links between music and mathematics. Just as a hat tip, the Speechification blog is well worth following as a 'best of' speech radio, and it often highlights things that I would have otherwise missed.
Final call for Mixclub if anybody wants to join in this round!

Sorry you got sick - hope you get better soon.
I'll have to check out your podcasty things - although I already subscribe to more than I can listen to. Ever hear This American Life, www.tal.org? I can't recommend it enough.
