The Nine Billion Names of God

Neil Gaiman mentioned this short story by the late Arthur C Clarke today. I remember reading it when I was eight or nine, in a short story collection borrowed from the library, and it has stayed with me ever since, if only for the final sentence which is possibly the best closing line of any short story I have ever read.
