A Merry little xmas

I surfaced after two days of food induced coma this morning, awoken by the cute purrs and not so cute fishy breath of Daisy the kitten. I stumbled around the kitchen wiping muddy paw prints off the work surfaces and sorting out the bottles for recycling. I got a plastic bag from under the sink and dropped a champagne bottle into it, which promptly fell through a hole and landed on one of the toes of my left foot provoking some colourful language for seven o'clock in the morning and leaving me with an interestingly coloured bruise.

Christmas was fun, with the usual selection of pie, pickles and prosciutto on the night before, the traditional perfectly heeyuge meal on the day itself, and a mind numbing range of left overs on boxing day. Nom nom nom, indeed. Kudos to Jan for hunting it down and cooking it, whilst I took on washing up duties.

Present wise, everybody got things that they wanted - a gaming chair and Assassin's Creed for Jamie, a new iPod nano for Alicia, a waffer theen keyboard and print making set for Jan and Zelda : Phantom Hourglass and the Orange Box for me (not that I've had much of a look in on the xbox in the last two days). Barney had an enormous bone which has so far resisted his attempts to gnaw it, and the cats have demolished a tray of special tins of food - it's back to Asda Tiger food next week.

I have even ventured out of the house in addition to the usual dog walks in a rather muddy wood. As members of the Cat Shelter we were invited down to see the kitties this afternoon, and there were any number of them that we could have taken any of them home if we hadn't already got three and most of the cats seemed not to get on with dogs according to the signs in the room.

As if by magic, Daisy has just appeared so I'll try and snap a picture with my webcam ... bingo!
