Do, do, do the Gutsy Gibbon

Last night I had a very strange dream where I was living in a cave, like the one off of Robinson Crusoe, with for some reason. It was a very nice cave, with a hole in the roof to let the light in, running water and a plasma screen tv. I didn't get to find out why I was in this cave because Daisy decided she was hungry and woke me up at five o'clock this morning. Oh joy.

It was cold out in the woods as well. Not quite frosty, but not far off. Still, at least that meant a nice sunny day. I had a tidy up upstairs and reasoned that the fans were not likely to be used again until next summer so I put them up in the loft. Work was the usual joy of stupid requests, and finding yet more incompatibilities between Office 2007 and Office 2003 even when you explicitly tell it to save in 2003 format. Stupid Microsoft.

As an antidote to Microsoft I set the download going for the Gutsy Gibbon update on Ubuntu on the server. It took less than an hour and first impressions are very positive. Lots of tweaks and tidying things up without the pointless moving things around of Vista. Bluetooth now works seamlessly which will please Jamie. The desktop Compiz special effects are all present but after a brief gander at the bells and whistles I switched them off.

Spaghetti and mushrooms in a creamy sauce with spaghetti for tea, followed by a cup of freshly ground and wickedly strong Santos and Java coffee to pep me up. Time to get ready for Sai practice at Kobudo - hurrah!
