Cold steel

It was cold at the dojo tonight.

I'd got my kit bag straight out of the garage, so my gi was freezing as were my sais which were icy to the touch. Sensei Leila had been naughty and had had a chocolate crispie cake at lunch time, so she pushed us hard in the warm up to get us moving. Jogging, jumping, stretches, push ups, sit ups, squats and break falls for half an hour, and then a quick gulp of water before getting stuck into the syllabus.

I think we are starting to get a handle on the sai block kata now, and we have settled on the wrist locks and defences against Bo and Jo that we are going to practice for the grading in December. Note to self, remember not to hook finger over the quillions even if it looks cool because Jennifer Garner did it in Elektra ...

A good session, I think.
