Well, I finally managed to get to a Wednesday night sabre session, on a miserable rainy evening in Darnall and it was well worth the effort. We were limited to three swords between the four of us, but that was a good excuse to concentrate on some footwork, finding out how effective traverses and passes could be and how to overcome them.
Good fun all round, and only slightly marred by the gang of yahoos who tried to kick the back door in, realised they were being watched from a window by a group of heavily armed people and sheepishly came round to the front where one of them asked “Scooze me mate – is dis da yoot club?”
Perhaps they wanted a game of ping-pong? :-)
