First up, I had a heads up that the Nintendo Stars catalogue had been updated with new stuff, so I had a chance to redeem some of the stars that I’ve been hoarding since getting my original GBA-SP. I ummed and ahed for a bit, and finally settled on an official Nintendogs soft toy golden labrador. Cute!
Next, I fired up Animal Crossing for my daily fruit harvest and patrol of the town. Nook was offering 155 bells for turnips, but I resisted and ended up getting 252 apiece from Red’s town Lancre – that should make a nice dent in the mortgage. I have a new resident as well – a zebra called Savannah who has already invited me to her house for her birthday party next week and has started calling me ‘mongtard’. Nice.
Finally, I had a chance for an hour on the xbox so I played though a chapter of Brothers in Arms – a tactical squad level WWII first person shooter. My squad was tasked with clearing a landing ground for incoming gliders by blowing up poles in the middle of a couple of fields – apparently known as ‘Rommel’s Asparagus’. There were anti-aircraft batteries around the edge and a couple of machine gun emplacements to clear out as well – it was absolutely rock-bastard-hard, but I finally managed it by leapfrogging my fire team up a ditch at the side of the field to lay down a suppressing fire whilst I legged it through the field planting satchel charges with bullets pinging overhead. Crikey.
